Why We Don’t Automatically Apply the 3 Rules Approach to Our Daily Data Sheets
Providing Flexibility in Betting Strategies
This is a follow-up to the recent blog post in which I outlined the 3 rules strategy.
I’ve received several requests asking why I don’t automatically apply the 3 Rules Strategy to the daily system data sheets and streamline the selection sheets to include only the qualifying bets. While the 3-rule approach is useful for many, there are several reasons why it’s not practical to limit the daily sheets this way:
Individual Preferences for Systems
Several members follow specific systems only, rather than betting across all selections. By providing all the system qualifiers, I ensure that everyone has the opportunity to back their chosen systems. Reducing the sheet to just 3-rule selections would remove options for those who prefer to follow certain strategies.Advised Prices Uncertainty
One of the key rules is to back only horses that meet the advised prices for certain systems. Unfortunately, I can't predict in advance which horses will reach the advised odds. Prices fluctuate throughout the day, and without knowing which ones will qualify, it becomes impossible to filter the selections accordingly in the morning.Non-Runners Can Change Everything
Non-runners often impact multiple qualifiers within a race. When I post the selections early (usually by 9 am), I haven’t always had time to check if there are any non-runners. This adds a layer of uncertainty to applying Rule 1 (which avoids multiple selections in the same race). If I cut down the list in advance, it could change again due to non-runners after the selections have been posted.
Ultimately, I want to give you all the data upfront, leaving you the flexibility to apply the 3 rules yourself if that’s your preferred approach. This way, the sheet remains comprehensive for everyone, no matter their betting style.
